yep BBQ and Show n Shine .. . get the public in looking at the boats and once they smell the BBQ you got all the donations handled, dollar hot dogs would sell quick along with dollar canned sodas, your local food stores will generally help out if you go in and talk to the head honcho, we got a 25% discount from Kroger a few years back for a school event! Big Napa lot or even Lowe's or Home Depot will let you use a part of there lot since it's a charity plus they may get some traffic as well ALSO you'll get traffic from the people that were already going there ... be sure to have lots of little street urchins by the donation cans as well cause people give more when they see sad little kid faces ... Please Sir could I have some more?

I guess what you are telling me is Somerville is too far for them to travel for a once a year benefit? I guess you could do something on your river. Maybe a show n shine at that park down the road. Then feed us with BBQ for a specified amount per plate $ and sell drinks $ maybe a cool T-shirt with Skeeters on it. Then we could go boat! think.gif :smile30:

LOL, I don't know about "all" the good ideas... there was this one time with trying to shoot a tennis ball out of a pringles can with gasoline...  crazy.gif

does not work so well, but i tell you what does... old school real cans cut the top and bottoms off a few leave bottom on one duct tape together, make a small key hole in bottom can, squirt in lighter fluid shove tennis ball in light and enjoy the show!

Soda cans won't work for shooting tennis balls. You have to use the asparagus cans from Green giant. They are precisely narrow enough to snugly fit a tennis ball into it and not allow gasses, once ignited, to escape around the ball.

They're calle Potato guns now and there's lots of instructions online on how to make them. My son and I made one last year and it works great!! Lol
