Calling All South Hot Boaters...

I have been presented for help or giving ideas,  for a fund raiser for "Relay For Life"  i guess most know about it,  i support this every year thru donations,  for i have had family members that have survived and died from this desease ( CANCER)....

any way this person knows about our Bay City Rally Memorial Day River Run to show our support for our military,

What she is asking is ideas and what kinda of support our group could and would do for a fundraiser,

what i am asking is for any ideas and suggestions from our southern peeps....

I started the BCR and at times wish i could build it to more for the support of our military,  and now i've been asked for ideas for another cause.

so please step up and give some ideas and suggestions,  and let me know if i could have some support in this matter,  it may not be this year,  or maybe later in the year,

but for the time being,  i would like to here from everyone on this....

What about an event like "Winter Nationals"the Byuboyz put on. That would bring in many boats and have river races with a small entry going to the cause. I have some connections on a safety crew.

I believe this all needs to be run by Bill, before it goes any further. I doubt he'd want the site's name affiliated with any racing. :police:

Show and shines are a little different.

can understand that but i'm just asking for ideas and seeing if there would be any support from the people that like to get together.....  this doesn't have to be a thb thing, but could be good for it.... just saying

A get-together/show & shine would probably be the easiest & go the smoothest... anything on the water seems like it may be an obstacle for Joe Schmo off the street. If you are trying to attract the general public anyway. Unless you were able to work out some sort of deal with a park/campground to let folks in for a look-see or even at a reduced rate, don't think you'd get much outside traffic that way.

I'd say do it like ya'll did the Eddie Hill deal... Park & Blab somewhere where folks could walk around & goo-gaw at stuff, then just go hit the water later. Then you could have some nice pavement pounders as well as the boats. There were some nice rides at the last one Duane put on at Napa.

Far as support, I'll bring my POS out.. the metalflake may blind them so they don't see the scratched up paint, lol. Proceeds could go to the cancer deal somehow, not sure how to go about that other than just maybe charging a low admission fee & then giving it all to the Relay for Life people? Could do the same thing for a military situation like Wounded Warriors, or even stuff to send to our men & women soldiers who are serving, here or abroad... care package type deal like they do at Christmas time...

LOL, I don't know about "all" the good ideas... there was this one time with trying to shoot a tennis ball out of a pringles can with gasoline...  crazy.gif

But thanks, just passin along stuff I've seen done.  :smile14: The ones ya'll did at the Hooters a few years ago. Was that for anything in particular or more of a THB socializing deal?

That episode didn't turn out so well... kinda long story, best told over a couple cold beers. Right up there with filling a light fixture with water colored with green food coloring or peeing by your 4x4 & then watching it as it rolls away & crashes into a parked truck... don't even ask :cheesy:

one idea she had,  the person wanting to do this fundraiser,  was something like a "fun run"  where there would be keys hidden at different points/places and would have clues to find the next one,  kinda like a treasure hunt,  you could say this would be similar to a poker run.

I told her that sounds cool,  but there is not any locations here to do that besides the coast meaning Matagorda, the lower river and down the intracoast waterway to Sargent,  and in no way i was gonna put my boat in salt water again,  and there are many that want either.

she might have to get some of the fishing guys down there to help with this

Or they could scatter keys at different parks like on Summerville. Just have to figure out how to cross it. Wait I have a daycruiser, no problem what so ever. think.gif :smile30:

I guess what you are telling me is Somerville is too far for them to travel for a once a year benefit? I guess you could do something on your river. Maybe a show n shine at that park down the road. Then feed us with BBQ for a specified amount per plate $ and sell drinks $ maybe a cool T-shirt with Skeeters on it. Then we could go boat! think.gif :smile30:

1.  Somerville is to rough,  I'm  happy that you have a daycruiser,  but i'm not gonna beat my back out running all over somerville

2.  this would take sometime to setup,

Guys thanksyou  for you input in this matter,  we are gonna table this for now
