Also realize that it's only been the last 2-3 years that we've been runnig an ethanol blend in our fuel locally. Running that crap reduces fuel mileage at least 10%. I ran full unleaded in Georgia and considering got 400+ miles per tank. Running this ethanol I can barely hit 380 per tank.

Ethanol is the biggest scam out there.

That does not explain my friend's Av getting better mileage than mine.  He lives in the same area and burns the same blend fuel I do.  I burned e85 in mine for a long time.  I averaged 13.6 on it and most of that was around town driving.

When I went from the OEM tires on my truck which were 255/65/R17's to the 285/75/R17's, the tire diameter was significantly larger and my fuel mileage went down the tubes. Well I got to thinking one day why that was happening. What I determined that I wasn't indicating as good of mileage per tank because my tires weren't spinning as fast as they were when I ran the OEM tires. So for every 100 miles I showed on the odometer, I actually went about 105 miles with the larger diameter tires. Once I factored in the additional actual miles into my fuel calculation, my mileage turned out being about the same as it was when I was running my OEM tires. Also, if my speedo says I'm traveling at 70mph, the GPS will show that I'm doing 75 MPH now with the larger tires.

Take a look at what the OEM tires sizes were and do a "rotations per mile" analysis between the OEM and tires and the tires you are using now and see what you come up with. I bet your mileage isn't to far off from what your buddy is getting if you adjusted your tire size into your calculation.

The tires on my truck are OEM size.  It came with 20" wheels.  I recently replaced the Bridgestones it came with.  The new tires are Goodyears but they are the same size as the OEM Bridgestones.

Hmm, okay...have you compared your speedometer with GPS?

Dead on with my GPS.  The rotating mass of a 20" wheel is significantly higher than a wheel of a smaller diameter.  It takes more energy to get it started and more energy to stop it.  That is the only thing I can come up with that makes the difference.

Guess so.  Cool > Fuel + Brakes.  LOL

Ya, no kidding. Since I've increased the size of my tires.....I've been burning through my brakes faster than if I would have stayed OEM.

I agree the ford looks better than the GM.  My favorite of those is the original International CTX though and they were made right here in Garland, TX

Those are hot too.. and what do you mean WERE?? I'm pretty sure they still are. There was a beaut of a 4x4 sitting on the big concrete pedestal out in front of the plant the other day.

I haven't seen one out there in a while.  I assumed the quit making them.  Demand can't be that high.

Alright, this one's about 8 weeks out now!! Was talking with George yesterday. I guess him and Angie are staying in Southern Hills also. He was thinking his cabin was in between us. I know Cliff and I will be in Bella Notte, number 8 on the map. I'm pretty sure Matt's in Hidden Creek, number 9, right? Either way, we're all neighbors that weekend.

Man, just re read a lot of this thread. This thing had some funny stuff in it.

Maybe we can review some of the other accomodations in the area again. I know we're going in together on some places that are a little pricey, but I believe there were some other options in the area.

We are in Hidden Creek.  There are other options for cabins in Broken Bow.  You get what you pay for.  My wife likes plush and by the time we split ours with a few other couples it was cheap enough IMO.  You guys get hit a little harder because of all the kids.  Ours ends up being around $250 per couple.  That ain't bad for 3 nights in a cabin as nice as these.

I'm just looking forward to seeing the no armed drunk midget. We HAVE to get video of that dude partying. Lol.

I just did a side plumbing job Friday evening and raked in $200 cheddars and with that payday, we almost have the Broken Bow kitty full.

Steve and I are planning to leave from close to Rowlett about 11:00 Friday morning. We'll pick a meeting place when it gets closer if anyone wants to caravan with us.  If we leave any earlier than that and we won't be able to get in the cabin once we get there.  I am not a big fan of leaving my vehicle at the ramp with all my stuff in it on a packed holiday weekend.
