Big Daddy's Hulls

Does anybody have any experience with the Big Daddy's hulls.

Are they good solid lake boats?

Do they run fairly straight when the throttle is backed off quickly?

I had a Earl Smith Texas Tunnel that was fond of U-turns if the throttle was chopped.

I know a guy from the OKC jetboat club that sold his tx18 picklefork and bought a Big daddys hull. He sold his big daddys hull after it threw him out. It had handling issues at high speed and was not stable shutting down. Just info from one owner, you should talk to more people who have them and see if this is a common problem.

I was afraid that might happen after looking at the molds on his web site.

If it don't fly straight, I don't want one..........

Blew an engine one year at Waco and got spit out at around 130 mph... OUCH

I'm sure it depends on the hull design,they offer 3-4,the weight of the layup,how much power you put in the boat,and the drivers experience. If you are interested-i'd call Robert at Big Daddys and talk to him about it.He has an ad on the forum. At 130 mph-any boat is capable of spitting you out! :smile15:

I do know a couple of guys who are builders who I know build some stable boats.  You can call Scott Seastrom or Ervin Capps
I saw one of Ervins boats run a 6.0 in 1000ft at SITC this year and it is also holds the record in UBFJ. And Scott builds a killer
TX19 and has a Chyenne copy too. I only have one friend who tried the BDs jets and he didnt keep it long. If you like the BDs boats ask for some names of other owners and talk to them. Better to find out on someone elses nickel. Bet the guys on here wouldnt ride in the one I saw!!!

Not looking just yet, I have a boat, but it has a Pointy nose........

And I sure like the Pickle fork boats.  I'm just wanting to find one that has good manners.

Well maybe you need to here the whole story first! he took a hull set up for center steering and put two seats in it! then tried to balance the weight with sacks of concrete !! so when he let off it just turned with the weight !!! BAM he got chucked! he didn't even buy the boat first off! so go talk the Mr Hill and ask him about the seat first!

If you're going over 100 you need atleast a Jetaway, or a pop-off, or both. Just my .02 but a boat is only as safe as the equipment you use in it. I think those Texas Tunnels are like bulls...you ride one, it's not if you get hurt..it's when and how bad.

If you don't own one yourself I wouldn't throw rocks. I've see a lot of guys tell you one thing when it was really another. people lie its their nature to not want to look like the idiots they are. I nce had a guy tell me I sold im a bad motor and did a lot of bad mouthing we pulled it and found he had it so hot he melted a piston and said NO it didn't get hot. this was a street car. if you wanna know about his hulls ask for some references he'll give them to ya and maybe someone will let you try theirs out. or if you ask him he may let you drive one of his and see for your self if your seriou about buying one. just my pennies worth.

Like I said before talk to some owners. Maybe yall missed that part. And I dont own one but I have seen one that couldnt make a full pass due to handling issues, and who set it up I dont know just telling what I have seen. I dont have a dog in this fight, so I have nothing to gain by lying about what I have seen.  If you asked me about other makes I have seen run I would tell you what I have seen there too!! For me I will just stick with my old antique Youngblood, it has been shutting down straight for all 11 years that I have owned it. :smile22:
If you would like equal time I have seen drivers thrown from flat bottoms, texas tunnels,woffer jet,sunkist jet, hydrostream, cps, tunnel outboards, Liberator contender, starbuck, An allison run up on the bank, a curtis 501 run up on the bank, and sorry if I left out any of you guys that I have seen gettin chunked!!! JUST AS I SAW IT AND THE ONE I BLEW OVER ALL INCLUDED

Oh I agree you se it happen all of the time. But theres more to a boat than the Hull including the knucklehead with a Bud in his hand behind the wheel. I wasn't trying to start a fight just stating my opinion. that and a 100 dollars will buy a cup of coffee at todays prices.

What don't all boats with shiney headers run 100mph???  :smile13:  And don't forget ebay speed there's at least another 5-20mph available once a boat is posted on ebay.  :smile20: :smile24:
