best place in Texas to live and run your boat.

If a person was looking to buy a vacation spot near a perfect spot to run your boat, Where would it be?

Lake Palistine is one of my fav lakes.    IF and when I ever get to retire thats the lake yall can find me living on.  IF NOT BEFORE.  But there are several good LAKES just depends on what location you want to be in.

I'm sure there are lots of places to choose from, but off the top of my head, I'd say somewhere with access to the Brazos River. Brazos River will be damn hard to beat in my opinion. Somewhere along the stretch around Steele Creek, Plowmans Creek, maybe the Kimball bend area. Love running that river, gotta get back up there sometime. :smile17:

best place in TEXAS to live is anywhere the Yanks from the WEST COAST OR THE EAST COAST ARE NOT,  I only say this cause I have STEP BOTHER  from the west coast,  and he is one messed up puppy,  and now lives on CANYON LAKE,,  I won't be back to that lake any time soon

Randall would know. He has traveled to lots of different lakes.  Does it have good coves to run our type boats on windy days Randall?

yep, but tawakoni it nice too, palestine also, brazos river, lake tyler, lake mathis,joe poole, wright patman,colorado river also, medina,somerville,san jacinto river, lake houston, lake livingston.

Randall, I have never seen you so politically correct.  Every place is good.
I am sure Galen can find a place from the various options.

Steele Creek or Plowmans would be my choice.
Seriously though Galen, take into consideration who the other boaters  are in the area.  Are they serious performance boaters, casual boaters, water skiers or wanting to party?  Definitely several options to choose from.
Another V-drive is always welcome.

Jj and jim are absolutely correct. The river and live within an hour away. Other lakes are close also. We have 4 drag strips close. Cmon down Galen

I am really liking Lake Tyler lots of nice coves cheap property and by far the nicest beaches of any other lake I have been on in the state. I like Tawakini it's a Great Lake and I like lake Whitney you got the river and a big lake. Canyon is nice but the beaches suck all rock. I need to get down to Randall's lake it sounds great. The most important thing is to choose something that is within an hour or so that makes it easy to go there without an expedition.

If I were looking for a vacation place I would not be looking in the Houston area .  The prices and taxes are way too high compared to other areas . You can get a really nice place on the water in lots of other parts of the state for less money than you can get a decent place within 20 minutes of the lake here in Houston .
