BBF rebuild

Well i got my BBF on motor stand last night, took intake and oil pan off. I found a spun rod bearing on #8.
I dont think the crank can be cleaned up, i have not mic-ed it yet to see but felt pretty bad. Ill have to mic the rod too but it doesnt look too bad. Cause unknown at this time. think.gif

That stuff don't bother me. I have a lot of chevy friends that havent  seen the light yet neither. I bought the motor knowing oil psi had dropped last time out.

You won't hear me bashing Ford's about stacking bearings.  I've seen em all do that... Although a Chevy crank probably would have survived it.  :tongue:

My 460's coming out tomorrow. When it goes back in it will be no joke.. Aluminum heads, nasty cam, big carb, forged pistons..

Motor Head,  make sure you have at least 3/8 inch play from the time you shove the drive shaft (H-bar) into the pump housing, if that checks out, check for slug in the rear oil drain at the back of the block.  If the hole has a screen in it, take it out, let the oil run unobstructed.  That screen is a for production vehicles and has no business in a boat.  This is just my opinion and I could be wrong.

I will Jason. The boat it self prob. wont start going together until March or April. I wont be able to spend any money on it
until after the 1st of the year. I still have a lot to do to the boat like redo the mounts that hold fuel tanks in, some wiring, put a clear coat it, and then put pump back in it.  :smile13:
