Ask JJ the price we are splitting the cost. Mine is a real nice red anodized one.
Henry, JJ said yours won't work but he found one in storage that might work. He will just have to remove all the flaking chrome from it.
The crack on mine went all the way to the top only about a 1/2" that was not cracked.
JJ Said the housing looks like it was black anodized at some point so he is going to clean it up and leave the patina it has on it. We will get the mid plate replaced and get some cross bracing which it didn't have originally but is more of a safety feature. It will probably get a prop release as well for safety concerns.
We will be going to get a motor this coming weekend. I have one there at the house but will have three when we get back and will need to see which one is getting built. I got a set of front motor plates on order and need to make a rear motor plate. Need to plug all the unnecessary holes in the stringers and seal all the others with epoxy. I have all the material to redo the seats and just need a little bit of foam to fill it in and need to make a fiberglass form for the driver seat replacement.
The Carlson stumped JJ a couple of times this weekend, once trying to figure out how the Cav plate was actuated and trying to figure out what this hull design is.
I think we ended up deciding it was an early Hydro flat design but would call it a tunnel flat or basically categorize it with the flats.
The Cav plate is a hand crank that is cable driven with a worm gear setup much like a window crank turn it one direction and as you wind it then it moves it up and the opposite direction moves it down. JJ said he has never seen anything like it in his life. Now to find or make a new Hand crank for it. Tom is the one who figured it out.
Well the Carlson beat the CJ to an event although it didn't get wet it got there in one piece.
The trailer got new bunk boards the morning before we left. We raised up the rear and put it on jack stands and used the aframe with the hoist on the bow eye and lifted it up then pulled the trailer out.
It was missing the two side bottom bunks and the one of the side angle bunks. It's no wonder why the boat wouldn't go all the way on the trailer without hitting the rudder. Now it is all the way on the trailer and the bow eye is in the holder the rudder is inside the rear bar of the trailer. Will pull the boat back off to finish rebuilding the trailer at some point. Still need to replace all the carpet and sandblast and repaint the trailer.
Took us 5.5 hrs to make the 3.5 hour trip because we had a flat but the center of the spare wouldn't fit around the hub so plugged the hole in the flat and drove it but then it blew before we could find a tire shop. limped it to a tire shop and had them change the tire from the spare rim to the trailer rim. had to make a stop in Waco for some exhaust manifolds for a boat I am working on for a client. Still made it to Steele Creek by noon on no sleep from the previous day. Rebunked the trailer from 12:30 when I got out of work until 5:30 am when we finished.
