Man, you sure you're not from down here?

He's a transplant....like a lot of us here in North Texas are. Using the "tree" method just shows that he's trying to adapt tot he local engine building culture. I know them Okies use their trees all the time as engine hoists. Lol.

Cliff, looks like I will be putting my motor on the dyno. My hardened bolts should be in today. Everything is now measured, spec'd, balanced, the whole nine yards. I'm going to final assemble the short block Sunday if you want to come hang out and throw back a few cold ones. You can bring Jacob too, him and Edward can tear up the Taxxas trucks in the parking lot next door. I have nice ramp out of a 4x8 sheet of plywood that loves eating suspension parts.

I might just do that. The kids and I are going to put the Jet boat in the water Sunday after church and do a little fishing. Once we put her back in storage, we might just come on down. I think Jacob will love banging his truck up some.

I defintiely spent more money on the Traxxas than on the Glastron this week.. LOL. Gotta swing by and get a spring support and it's race ready again.

Well that's just my short block assembly. I'm building it STOUT with forged/ARP everything cause I do plan on hitting it with nitrous every time a GM boat in is front of me.

Although I imagine with a Ford built right one nitrous bottle will last all summer.. LOL

Then maybe you should just spring for the 100lb N2O tank  think.gif

There it is, PROOF their still smokin tumble weed in Texas. LOL  :smile17:

And every one knows a well built Chevy don't need NOS to kick a ford :smile16:

As for the tree hoist. Many a ford killer began life under a good tree.  think.gif

Don't mind me , I'm just on of those damned Okies  :smile16:

While I'm building a Ford here, here is one thing that GM most definitely got right....

The distribution of electricity..... A brand new billet piece with a 50,000 volt coil and a 460 cam gear.

At least it has a Ford blue cap. LOL

What kind is that? I got ahold of one of those Mallory Unilites but not really set on running it. Thought about one of those Davis H.E.I. set-ups if I didn't put the Duraspark dist. I saved from the truck....

Got it off of Ebay for $60 shipped.. Probably made in China and will leave me stranded one day.

Top Street Performance, that's the brand that's on the box.

If you get stuck bro, I'll tow you back in with the Whaler.

Lol.

It'll probably be fine. Like most other things out there, they sell 100,000 of them and the 5 guys that bad ones post it up everywhere. As long as the billet housing is good, I'll stuff a Pertronix module and Flamethrower coil in it and it will last forever.

Shoot, my high dollar Mallory I have now won't even turn any longer. I think the combo of the bad Mallory and worn out batteries is why it didn't start last time on the water.

Some people say that dizzy is a rebadged Pro Comp.

Those tend to leak. hard to weld them up behind the tubes for the bolts.

I bet it is the same quality as the one's Skip White sells.  I put one of those in Don's boat.  I did have an issue with one of the wire terminals.  Basically I had to bend the spades in cap into a slight "V" shape instead it being flat.  It was too loose and caused the tach to have intermittent issues.  Once I got a solid connection it was all good.

At least if it craps out I can say it's the one Chevy part that killed me!! LOL

I need to go test fit it real quick on the Stealth intake. The small block in my S10 had an issue with fitting an HEI on a Weiand, but that was an X-Cellerator single plane. A little dremel work did the trick though.

Yup.. Standard Weiand fitment.. LOL..

The first pic the dizzy is hitting the waterneck bolt BIG TIME. Not even close to siting all the way down.

The second pic the dizzy is rotated so the waterneck bolt in the machined recessed area of the dizzy. It sitll hits, but I think once the water neck and intake are torqued down AND I grind about an 1/8" off that bolt it will fit with some creative setting up of the plug wires. Like #1 may not be where it's supposed to be.
