Well that's just my short block assembly. I'm building it STOUT with forged/ARP everything cause I do plan on hitting it with nitrous every time a GM boat in is front of me.

Although I imagine with a Ford built right one nitrous bottle will last all summer.. LOL

when will those sweet heads be here?

Next retirement check...

Dude. You just got one last Tuesday!!!!!!

Over half of it already went to Jegs for high end parts. It's gonna buy all my vinyl next week too. The paint and glitter is at the shop now. I'll have a polished droop by the end of the week also. I have boxes and boxes of parts at the shop. Everything in the motor is new except the block, crank, rods, oil pan, timing cover and valve covers.

Are you going to Dyno it before you install it in the Glastron??

I would love to dyno it before it gets installed in the boat. Would be a great chance to break in the cam properly too without it being hooked to the pump. But I have no idea where to do that or the approximate cost.

Any ideas anyone??

Not sure up in your neck of the woods who does it but i would bet there are several peeps that have one. The normal rate it about 500.00 bucks

Any ideas anyone?? Just dont hook the drive shaft to the motor and cycle water threw the motor with a 5gallon bucket and bilge pump to break everything in. some times you have to put the engine under a load for the rings to seat so you may have to do that on the lake?

I was talking more cam break in than motor break in. Cam break in takes about 20 minutes with the motor varying in revs from 2,000 to 3,000 rpm. This sets the initial wear pattern on the lifters and it very important it's done correctly when the engine first fires off.

Motor break in is seating the rings under load like you said. Many people have different way of doing this. None are wrong as long as the motor is not over revved. I've had success in the past with putting it in low 1, punching up to about 3500 rpm then let it engine brake down to 1500 about 10 times in a row. After that keep it under 5,000 rpm for another 500 miles, change the oil and let rip, but that was in a street motor.

Add to that a water pump and headers since they probably won't want the water from wet marine exhaust spewed all over the dyno room floor..

For all that I'll save a bunch of cheddar and just say it's 535hp, which is what the motor I'm duplicating dyno'd at. However, my cam is a bit bigger than the dyno cam. I could call it an even 550.. then add a 150 NOS shot.. 700hp baby!!

The dyno shop i used had everything to hook it up. I did not use my headers or need a water pump. I wish you well on your build and hope you achive your goal of 550 hp.

OH HELL YEAH!! Just called Calverts. They have a 460 water pump and headers in their shop. $75/hr for the dyno however long it takes. They guy said if the motor is ready to run they can get it in and out under two hours easy..

Thanks for the link!!

Cliff, looks like I will be putting my motor on the dyno. My hardened bolts should be in today. Everything is now measured, spec'd, balanced, the whole nine yards. I'm going to final assemble the short block Sunday if you want to come hang out and throw back a few cold ones. You can bring Jacob too, him and Edward can tear up the Taxxas trucks in the parking lot next door. I have nice ramp out of a 4x8 sheet of plywood that loves eating suspension parts.
