Not a tall deck. Can anybody help me with date codes. This block has never been decked, still has the dates stamped in the front. Trying to fiqure out If I have a high dollar block  :grin:

this casting no# was used on several block conf. from 335, 390, 365, 427,copo, 425,  435.
in the 454 conf. 345,360, 365, 390,425, and the 454 all built in 2 bolt or 4 bolt conf. 
i think what you have is a truck block out of the towanda plant in n.y. probably out of a suburban
to tell the dif. between tall and std. deck block look at the water pump inlet,s on std deck will be
close to the top of the block,on tall deck they willbe  about 1 in.down. i am trying to find the the break down of the rest of the t.# yougave. that will tell the body , trans, carb. ect.  :smile17:
lose to top of deck on tall deckthere should be a

Na it's a tall deck, because everything that was in it,  is on the blower motor i had built for my model a , which is not a tall deck.

block # are some time's hard to go by.  the ser. # on top of the deck give you every thing you
need to know  about the engine . (DISCLAMER) unless some one has fooled with it. you got to remember back in the day befor the gov. got involved you could call g.m up and order the engine and power train built almost any way you wanted.  :smile17:  not any more it's a one size fit's all deal.
