Ok, lets look.
Buy rail kit, scrounge up good block, buy crank, rods, pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets, cam, lifters, timing chain, oil pan, pump, screen, exhaust or adapters, heads, valve covers, rocker arms, pushrods, have engine balanced and machine work done, OR

get a complete, running rectangle port 4 bolt 454 that will bolt right in.

Which would YOU do? Or, what will your pocketbook pay for?  Remember, I just bought a boat. And have shallow pockets, but I can wrench.

Duane...a Ford is too good of a motor for that new boat...I'd look for another hull.

Just sayin'.  :smile30:

lol, its just some good natured back & forth, no ill will intended.

Honestly, I'd go with whatever gets ya back on the water the fastest without killing the checkbook. My boat would have very likely had a nice healthy 468 in it when the 429 went tits up other than the fact that all the equipment necessary to change brands was gonna cost more than I could afford.

Doesn't matter what ya build, its gonna run well whatever it is & you will get your balls busted no matter what anyway...

You are totally right Duane. I could have stayed with a Chevy in my tx and probably not spent near as much money but I have a ford tatto on my chest lol. Plus if you go Chevy that one less boat I have to worry about beating. Jk!

Very few People here are running a Ford or Chevy, most just using the Bolt Pattern of one or the other...........
