I run E85 now, before it was 100LL AV gas.  Motor is blown 540 BBC in a flatbottom.  I am convinced that E85 was made for blown motors or high compression motors.  It has positive and negative aspects, but mostly positive.  It can be a little expensive to convert from gas, but if I was starting from scratch, it would be E85.

It all depends on what you are running for a motor.  Using high octane in a motor designed to run on low octane will reduce your power.

MY 522 LIKES 87. THE 555 LIKES 93 WITH A BOTTLE OF OCTANE. THE 468 TURBO IS ON 100 LL OR E-85. 522 IS 8.8. 555 IS 10.9. 468 IS 7.6 AND 15 PSI. IT IS ALL CYLINDER PRESER.

Yes, it's aviation fuel for pistion aircraft motor and should not to be confused with Jet A which is jet fuel.

E-85 or good race fuel like VP 114

Jim is correct , the higher the octaine , the harder it is to burn . If your engine does not have the compression for the higher octaine , then it will not make the power it should ..
