My son and I took the CP to Somerville Monday to heat up the motor and change the oil and filter. What a beauty of a day. We knew what was coming today. Anyway, I bought one of those oil extractor cans where you pump up a vacuum in the can and it sucks the oil out. It worked great, I got 9.5 quarts out of a 10 quart system. Now we have to wait for Spring.

Does it pull out the oil at a pretty good rate? I have one of those electric pumps. It seems like it takes forever and a day to empty the pan.  think.gif

The oil was good and warm so it took a little over an hour, (three beers to be exact). It's hard to see the flow thru the plastic tube and you don't know how much is in the container. Next time will be quicker. I went to this because the oil drain hose connects to the front of the pan and was a B**** to drain even with a little pump hooked up to a drill.

Sounds like it pulls it out at the same speed my pump does. I like the 3 beer measurement! :smile30:

I figure after the first of the year when we have a nice day I'll go put the boat in and run it a little to get the oil warm so it'll drain half decent and start 2020 with fresh oil & filter. One advantage to doing the oil the old fashioned way.  :smile16: Maybe get the bunks screwed down while the boats off the trailer. These warm sunny days lately sure have had me in the mood to be outside and around the water. :smile17:

The sun has been nice, but been a bit chilly here! Sounds like you have a good plan though!.

Thanks for posting that. I looked around online were kinda pricey but didn't find one that looked like that. For as rarely as I do it, I'll probably just stick with the gravity method haha

I just use a wet / dry vac and suck the oil out of the drain hole .. This works great for my boat , but I know some of the boats the engine sits was to low to get in there and do it this way .. I just pull my drain plug and then stick the hose of the wet/dry vac up to the drain hole and let it suck it all out .. Works great for my application ..  Cheap Wet/Dry vac was like 20.00 bucks ..
