One big plus to a hydraulic PD is that you do not have the "slack" or "play" that you have with a manual does. When it is set it is "set"
Lock a manaul one and walk to the back of the boat and move it with your hands watch how much up and down movement you get. You can really change the attitude of a boat with that kind of slack. Running 50-60 MPH no big deal but when you start getting some speed behind it it really can and will change how the boat runs.

did not know that...i'm starting to like the idea again...have you ever ran one?  is the speed of the up/down position a problem?  specially when just wanting to trim the boat?
