VHT "flame proof" paint question?

Has any body used this product on there headers before?I have a small pin hole that needs to be filled and dont know wht kinda weld is required).The headers are only 3 yrs.old and came ceramic coated.

You will have to have the pin hole sand blasted, then brazed. The VHT hight temp header paint is fine for painting the headers, but I'm not a big fan of it. It does not look good for very long.

X2 ..............I used it on some headers for my bike. After a few days it became ashy look'n ...............It would look like a black guy with no lotion lol  :azn:

you have to break it in. run it for minute or two then let it cool and then do it again. I've done it this way a couple of times and it was ok. its still not ceramic though.

Has anyone ever powder coated a set of headers? I don't know if it will stand up to the extreme heat. :huh:
If you break it in slowly does it not get ashy? Maybe that's the ancient chinese secret! :smile15:

There is a place in LaMarque that powder coats headers . They have done several sets that are members here , seems to hold up fine .

I might have to hollar at my powder coating buddy about my Hooker Super comps on the old 75 f150. I  quit driving it when fuel hit $4.00 per gallon. Now she has a small header leak somewhere. :smile21:

Pretty sure Lightning brand headers are powdercoated. Thats what Alan has, as well as Jeff/TexasJet & Scott/Mr.GoSlow on their boats as well. They are water jacketed though, so they run quite a bit cooler than water injected. Not sure if powdercoating a regular set of injected headers would hold up to the heat.

I'm also not sure if the ceramic coating & powdercoating is the same deal...

My friend told me that the powder melts at 400 deg. But that may be for it to set up. I will ask him for more info! :huh:
