Heading to cedar creek lake when I get off to help my cuz get his Taylor back on the water. We rebuilt his 429 with ported CJ heads .660 lift cam 10.5:1 compression tunnel ram with two 750s. I'm going to put my bowl with droop and nozzle with reducer on his pump and see if it helps it ride a little dryer and not beat the $hit out of you in chop. He has a 1 piece bowl.

Well my cuz just called me and he tested his Taylor today and it would only turn his aluminum A impeller 4,600rpm. I wish he would listen to me and at least put a 460 crank and pistons in it. That 429 is only 3.59 stroke so it dont have the torque needed for a heavy taylor. It would probably take a BC impeller to get it close to its rpm range but the boat is so heavy it would be a dog out of the hole. :smile21:

I told him not to spend too much money trying to get it to go fast with that motor. He plans on getting a better hull some day and keeping that one for a lake boat anyways. It needs an impeller and a wear ring so I told him to put a B in it and that will help some. I wonder how a BC would work with an inducer in that heavy boat?

His a has one of the fins-blades broke off. I noticed it when I had his clean out open checking the clearance this weekend.

Matt ET automotive has a bronze B impella for a 100.00 not sure if it is used or new.

I'm sure that is used.  I have an aluminum B now.  That aggressor AA was to much.  The "B" is OK but the RPM are up kinda high for long cruising.  I am starting to think like Bobby.  An "A" with squeeze may be the best of both worlds for me.

My cuz called me and said he has his taylor turning 4900rpm and it gps-ed 65mph. It may get close to 70 with a    B impeller thats not messed up like his A is. Guess it just needed a little tuning? clap.gif

has anyone ever ran an aluminum B impeller in a heavy boat like this Taylor with out an inducer? I pulled the clearance down to .017 at the SDBA race in waco this weekend and it still caveatted on the launch! I even hooked a rev limiter set at 4,000rpm to a button that the driver held down for a second to let the pump load, (and to help be consistant on the reaction time) and it still caveatted for a second when he released the button.
