Renting a cabin on Lake Whitney/Brazos River

Haven't posted in a while...been working on the boat.

Anyway, looking to rent a cabin for a week in June on Lake Whitney....any recommendations?
Obviously looking to take my little 16'er jet boat (the unfinished build thread is in my sig).

I was looking at a couple...the one I like best so far is a house at the Indian Lodge (I think Dman has used that ramp) but I don't know if anyone has stayed there.

Good/Bad? Any other recommendations?

Indian Lodge has cabins & what they call "motel rooms" as well....  They have their own ramp, with some slips available to rent if desired. They also sell gas there at the lodge as well, midgrade I believe. We've stayed there a number of times & never had any issues. Cabins are not super fancy, but always had everything we needed. The owners live on site, really friendly & can take care of any issues if something comes up. One thing to take into consideration is if the river is too far down, their ramp may not be usable. May wanna ask them about it if you are thinking about staying there. Other than that, I love running on the Brazos river there, nice, wide & smoooth pretty much everywhere we went. Greg(Oldbuck40) is who gave us the heads up about the place. he may have more detailed info should you have any questions.  Although we missed Plowmans last year, Indian Lodge is where we always stay. Several other members here have stayed there as well.

Oh yeah, they have a pool that Esabataj can describe to you in great detail...  lol..

LOL, yeah I was definitely going to ask about the river level.

I was looking at their Rio Casa (house), it has 2 bedrooms plus a loft (won't use the loft unless the wife gets pissed at me  :smile26: ) so we will have plenty of elbow room  :smile16:

I'm hoping the river/lake will be DEAD during the middle of the week so its smooth as glass.......

How far upriver can you boat (assuming "normal" lake/river levels)?

Didn't even know about that house deal. Sounds cool. We spent 4 days up there in August a few years ago. Was pretty much empty of boats other than the few of us that went. It was awesome!

Not sure about traveling upriver, I haven't been very far past Kimball Bend. May shoot Greg/Oldbuck40 a PM, that is his neck of the woods & been staying at the Indian Lodge since he was in high school I think & hell that was when he was working part time as a guide for Lewis & Clark, lol...  He sez there is a nice place to go upriver a ways, but river was always too far down for us to get that far.

That & he put that blower on his boat so his range of travel was cut short by quite a bit, lol... Looking forward to gettin back up there for another weekday trip sometime. Ya'll liable to have the place to yourselves....

If the river is up you can go about 12-14 miles up river to the sand bar , but be very careful getting that close to the sandbar , There are a couple HUGE rocks just under water . It a long way up there , once you get past the Ski Ranch , then you are getting close to the sand bar ..

I can't make it that far anymore , so we have to drop in at HAM CREEK( off of 916 i believe )  and then go up river .. Sure is some pretty river and cliffs up on the river

Have fun ..

We had a lot of rain in Granbury , so i would think the river would be up right now ..

Called them today, they said the river is 10' low, so no use of their ramp and/or slips  :smile19:
Oh well. Should still be fun  :smile27:
