On this day in 1836, 250 Texians continued battling with a force of 1500 Mexicans at the Alamo. The brave Texians had been fighting for 13 days and finally succumbed to the overwhelming number of Mexicans and the battle was lost.
On April 21, 1836 the Texian army defeated the Mexican arm under General Sam Houston's orders.
General Santa Anna was spared, and a treaty was struck up with Mexico that gave birth to the Republic of TEXAS!
During the battle of San Jacinto many Texian soldiers shouted "Remember the Alamo."
