Question for the Board

If you were selling your boat: would you rather it go to a friend/someone on the boards.... or sell it to a complete stranger.

Figuring that if it went to someone on the boards you'd more than likely see it around more often than if you sold it to a stranger to where you may not see it again or very rarely.

Or do ya care either way.

That is a tough one.  If you are selling a good boat that would be mixed emotions.  One would be you would be happy a THB member was enjoying what you used to have.  Another it would be tough because if you but a lot of effort in it and had ownership in your work someone else would have it.  I spent 3 years building a 57 Chev truck for a guy to wreck in 2 weeks after he bought it.  That was tough.  It could go either way I guess.

i would try and sell it away from where i boat at, luckily i have never seen any of the boats again that i have sold . i think about them from time to time and say to myself what the hell? shoulda kept it, but outa sight is outa mind

I know my boat is in great shape and I've done a lot of quality work on her. However if I sold it to a friend, if something broke, through no fault of my own, I'd feel terrible and somewhat obligated to help pay for it just to salvage the relationship.

Tough call.

I have sold cars and motorcycles to friends and people I didnt know, but in this economy I would sell to the first taker at your asking price.  Things are slow, and money is tight.

This is a really hard question to answer. think.gif  I would like to see someone enjoying my boat, but at the same time I would probably wish I hadn't sold it to them if they were to have problems with it or beat it up, and if they didn't have problems with it I would and got to use it a lot and really fixed it up, I would think "Damn that could have be me out there with those hot chicks cruising around in that awesome badass boat!  :smile30:  I guess it would have to be the first one willing to pony up the dough.  :smile13:
