When reassembling the pump you have stainless steel fasteners going into aluminum components. Do you use locktite or anti seize when putting it all back together?
Berkeley will also sell you New items when you remove all the Threads from the Holes the next time you take it apart, use Anti-seize. :smile30:blazeracer said:Answered my own question. Found the Berkeley manual on line, it says locktite.
Your right Kenny! There are diff. colors of loc tite not sure which does what but the steering should have it on there and the reverse bucket,,far as the bowl and droop,,,anti sieze all the way!!!Devilman said:Isn't there more than one kind of Loc-Tite, like different colors = different strengths type of deal? Most everything on my pump I used anti-seize on when putting it together, but seems like I did use some red Loc-Tite on some of the steering stuff. It came with the droop/steering kit stuff I got from JBP. I've had the steering stuff apart with out issues....
Use anti sieze on the bowl and droop or later you will be :smile18:blazeracer said:OK, went back and looked. It says locktite on the steering components in the on line manual. It doesn't what to put on anything else like the bowl and snoot bolts.

I'll roll with what we know them. Thanks guys.
Rule out here on the Rig is to hide the Red loc tite, the Blue is general purpose and "usually" does not cause harm, the Red on the other hand will 99% of the time remove all the internal Threads on the way out. But you are correct Kenny, There are MANY different types. One other thing to Keep in mind is that "GREEN" is a fixture type, we call it Bearing Mount, and it is PERMANENT!
I think so Kenny, I will have to ask my GF, I am at work.Devilman said:Gas-Hole said:Rule out here on the Rig is to hide the Red loc tite, the Blue is general purpose and "usually" does not cause harm, the Red on the other hand will 99% of the time remove all the internal Threads on the way out. Hmmm, I coulda swore it was red, but maybe not? I didn't go crazy with it, just a couple of drops. It was a tiny little container of it. Ya, I have heard of the Bearing Mount stuff, yikes. :lipsrsealed:
you get your mail?

The Copper based is water friendly, this applies to salt water mostly but Brackish water as well and even long term use in fresh, The Nickel has Bad reaction to Salt/Brackish/ long term fresh water use and will actually cause corrosion.Devilman said:Gas-Hole said:I think so Kenny, I will have to ask my GF, I am at work.
Thats cool, no rush. Just wondering. :smile17:
On that anti-seize, you mentioned copper based, instead of nickle based... I've used both in various instances, why the copper over the nickle?

Crusader said:James, are you going to have this thing put back together in time to run it this afternoon at Lavon?????
They give you the all- thread so you can install wedges if needed! :smile30:blazeracer said:Crusader said:James, are you going to have this thing put back together in time to run it this afternoon at Lavon?????
Yup. Just went to BA Industrial and got all new stainless hardware. The kit the HTP sent for the droop is nothing more than all-thread cut up and all are WAY too long. I got some real nice allen head screws for it.
That's just too easy man! :smile23: :smile16:Mike S said:If that thing makes any power you want it studed and stainless nuts with lock washers no bolts! that's also why they send extra long all-thread because some run wedges/spacers and some don't so there all going to be deferent links! :smile30:
