I want to put a pump gas 496 or 540 with aluminum heads, hydralic cam and single carb in my Sanger circle ski boat that I just bought. It currenly has a nice, classic, 2x4 tunnel ram LS-7 with Isky solid cam, 13:1 leaded gas motor that starts quick, runs strong. According to previous owner of 20 years, it was refreshed about 20 hours back. He took very good care of this thing, very O/C personality. Never raced, he just profiled about in it.
Since I am not a mechanic, I think I would come out better and with less hassle selling this motor and buying what I want instead of farting around with rebuilding this one to run pump gas. Did that already on my last Hondo. Not giving it away so don't waste my time but I think it should be worth about 4K easy.
I will keep marine hardware and 14 quart Basset chrome oil pan, electronics, plumbing, you get motor, intake and carbs.
