My buddy , Doug, was just given a 72 F250 4x4 hiboy , its been sitting for 24 years but he got it running, amazingly little rust and good drivetrain.
Engine is a very tired 360 FE 2bbl , looking for engine, heads, 4bbl intake, etc only caveat is he doesnt have much money, 2 kids and a wife with no job take care of that.
The truck is to tow his 24' pontoon boat when lake gets too low to use normal ramp.
This past summer he couldnt go out much because his Durango 2wd just couldnt do the job.

I do have a nice gen6 454 shortblock with forged pistons but one spun rod bearing that
I would be willing to trade , also a complete 460 that has been sitting for 3 years but was pulled out of working truck and stored that he was given as well , bunch of Alpha parts, set of trim tabs complete with pump and controls, interior out of 23 Checkmate also complete hull from same Checkmate but has no title.

If you know/see anything let me know.

trying to find thing for that fe360 is going to be a challenge,  if you have a 460 yall might think of installing it,  parts for the 460 will be easier to find.  just my .02

if you want a site to ask ford questions and get an opinion on that deal try 460ford.com or 429/460.com,  there is a FE site but i don't know the address..... Good luck

Damn, day late & a dollar short.. Just got rid of a 390 Ford....

There is a company  called L & L Products that specializes in conversion kits to do just that. I did one awhile back, put a 460 in place of a 400M. Quality parts, it went together like butta... I'm sure they got the stuff to go from FE to 385 series.... website: http://www.landlproducts.com/

Is it 4 speed or auto? Gonna be a different bellhousing pattern either way, if its a 4 speed, gonna take a different flywheel too I believe...

Honestly, for all practical purposes, he'd probably be save himself time & headache by just freshening up the 360. Get an aluminum intake at the very least if he wants to go 4 barrel, the FE intakes are friggin massive & weigh a ton, lol...

yes,its a 4 speed (more like 3spd with granny gear)
he doesnt want to do an engine swap, just get it running a little better.
Looked at aluminum intakes but havent seen any sell for under 200
even used.

I got ya... Yeah, you don't find an alum. intake for an FE layin around just anywhere, lol. I may still have a factory 4 barrel intake for a 360/390. I will be going by our "racecar" barn after work, I will look around & post up what I find(or don't find) later... The guy that got my 390, knows a thing or two about those FE's, I will ask him this evening what he's got in his. I loved mine, stout-ass engine with lots of grunt, its what turned me on to the big blocks...

Didn't get to go by there Friday like I thought, but did go check it out. Only intake I still had was a 2 barrel intake... Sorry it wasn't better news. Did talk to my buddy, all he did to the 360 in his truck was rebuild it, but to wake it up a bit he did change it from a 2 barrel setup to a 4 & put a good set of headers on it, from Stan's Headers... http://www.stans-headers.com/index.htm
