How stupid could I be?

Apparently very.

I saw boat less Bret driving down 114 today and saw the stickers on his back window and for some reason I had something come over me. I went to go check on the boat in the storage place.

Water in the bilge, WTF it was dry when I put it away. Started investigating. And...

Yea it's cracked........

I wanted to put antifreeze in it but I was convinced the water would evaporate since I hadn't used it in 6 months. Yea it didn't.

I'm looking for a SBC now and a machine shop if any one has any recommendations. I hope the crank, rods, and everything are OK.

Fuck me .....

Man, I didn't fully winterize my block after the winter nationals. I only added one gallon of antifreeze to the block verses the usual two gallons. The temps dropped to 10f two mornings ago.... You for me nervous now.

Cliff,

Don't mean to worry you. I didn't winterize at all last year and it was fine. Figured haven't run in the boat in 6 months + most of it would evaporate. Plus it's inside, not heated  though :(

Not sure another block would work with the pistons, rods, & crank.

The bottom end is all forged (so I'm told) and the reason I'm trying to reuse/save It might get to the point where I'll need a new bottom end if I up the CU.

Maybe I'll up this deal to a 400" and a bigger blower. I'm still trying to cope with WTF happened.

I repaired a cracked block with the lock-N-stitch method.  I would do it again in a heart beat.  Might be worth looking into.  Somewhere there is a thread on here where I did the repair.  The owner of lock-N-stitch was a huge help.  His name is Gary.

How long are the cracks?  How many is there.  I still have some stitching pins left.  You can use my kit but you may need to buy some more pins.  It would save you from buying the drill bit, tap and fluids.

EDIT:  Here is my thread on it.

327 and 350 are the same block.  Both have a 4.00 bore.  Only difference is the stroke.

Unless your 327 is an early model.  If memory serves correct, there were some small journal 327s.  think.gif.

Yes. I believe 62-early 68 (could be 67) are the small journal blocks.
