If you are handy replacing the wood in the transom is not that difficult.  You are going to get different opinions on what to use but personally I prefer epoxy resin and marine grade plywood.  There is a ton of good info out there on transom replacement.  You might also check out the restoration forum over at iboats.com  Do the research and make an educated decision.

I am replacing the transom on mine on my own but then I also am replacing the floor, foam, stringers, bulkheads, and everything else.

Honestly the offer Robert made is more than fair . Especially with him giving a 2 week guarantee . Most of the time when people have work done on their boats the number one complaint is how long it takes  to get thier boat back .  I have heard complaints about turn around time from just about every shop around .

This winter i am pulling the wood out of my winder and laying it back up with several layers of glass, the transom on a jet doesn't need wood substrate, sidewinder built alot of outboard boats and they all were heavy. If you are dong a set of swim platforms then put the wood back in so you don't worry. i preferr BC  oak plywood and epoxy resin.

got pic sweet boat thanks what i was thinking go back with wood liked what was said little changes to make big change
bad habit of over doing and turns out bad ,but if i can get the 51% owner of ever thing i have or hope to have happy
it is all good and she will want to come out and play getting drag over the top turned her off on boating a little need to make it
better for her to get back in

I used to have a step that you could attach inside the boat that was on two ropes and you could just hang it over the side of the boat for boarding . I think I gave it to Patch a few years ago . I will try to find a link for you . Something like that would eliminate needing a swim step and climbing  past the motor .

Don't know , I gave it to Patch . I would think it would work good . Be alot better than climbing over the motor when it's hot in my opinion .

Rick has a ski rope handle tied to his front motor plate.  He said it works great.  Throw it over the side and use it like a stirrup step.
