Or not.  crazy.gif  That's why I refuse to set timing with the motor running. I have been hit by a 7AL just like that and didn't like it. Now just imagine a Mag.

This was on an outboard I had hooked up the 6AL to and I was had cranking it over checking for spark.  I had the plug out and grounding against the block and I was holding the plug boot.  I guess the wire or boot were bad cause the spark went through them into my hand through my arm across my chest out the other arm and hand into the flywheel.  Man did that wake me up.  Next time I do that I will use channel locks with insulators to hold the plug boot.

Ok - Teach me something here .. I have  always rough set my timing  to start and then set it with the engine running to get the exact timing set . So how do you set it with the engine off .. Do you set the timing pointer exactly on the balancer like at 34*  and then move the distributor until the light comes on ?  Please inform this shade tree mechanic ..
