1st impulse (probably best!) is to run away screaming "Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!"  but I figured I'd check on here first. It's a California Performance(?... the block at the center of the transom that covers the seam where the rub rail ends come together has California in raised script on it)  "Cal Rage 2001" (this is what is stamped where the hull ID # should be on the transom) race hull. It's a bare hull that has never been rigged. It's on a tandem axle trailer that looks pretty solid, but it wasn't built for this boat. It needs the bunkers and front stop relocated (hulls a little long for this trailer, it's a big boat, probably 20-22 ft) and it could use paint and new wheels & tires. Feels like a fairly light hull lay-up. I hurt my back recently, so I didn't try to lift it. The factory gel coat is pretty faded, it set out in the sun a lot (but not so much that the glass feels compromised), and it has two 3"-4" cracks in the gel coat, but they don't "look" structural (both seem to run between holes that were drilled for the rub rail). Anyway, tried to search this particular hull and couldn't find anything on it. Anyone know anything about this particular hull? I didn't ask, but  being that it's a race hull (the present owners father-in-law wanted to build a drag boat, it even has a white rectangle on the gel coat for numbers on each side of the hull) and it doesn't have a unique VIN number, I'm guessing the hull doesn't have a state issued title (not sure what to do about that, anyone crossed this path with Texas Parks & Wildlife before?). The seller is a close friend, so I'm sure he's being honest with me, but he's not a boat guy (all street rods and restorations), and he just wants it out of his driveway, so the asking price was real reasonable ($750.00), the trailer ought to be worth that, shouldn't it? I realize it would  cost a fortune to build this thing from scratch (probably way cheaper to buy a donor boat), but I would hate to see it donated or cut up if it doesn't find a new home soon (his words). Opinions?

I think Cali Performance boats are either gullwing or like the old Youngblood boats. In any even, a picture would really help.

Thinks I look for in any boat are full lenght stringers, solid hull to deck joint, and a solid and consistent thud when hitting the floor, deck and transom. Any hollow sounds mean bad...

Oop's, I meant to include in the post that I planned to go back tomorrow after our car club meeting to get pics, but I forgot to add that. My "not so" smart phone will take decent pics, but it won't allow me to attach them to an e-mail so I can get them out of the phone!  crazy.gif
