Fuel tank testing

Anyone got a trough big enough to submerge a 7.5' fuel tank to test for a leak?  I tried pressuring it and spraying it with soapy water but I think the leak its too small to find it that way.

Your the second one to suggest that.  Wal-mart shows an 8' round 18" deep pool for less than $20.  Guess that is going to be the winner.

Found someone that says they can test it and repair it for $65.  Taking it now.  I'll let you know how it works out.

We have a place down here that puts a coating inside of them . It's usually not very expensive . Hopefully it will work out well for you .

This place repairs aluminum fuel tanks from big trucks.  Their card says they have been in business since 1936.  I got a feeling they can handle it.  Should have it back tomorrow.

We use them here at the shop. I think we have been using them for the 20 years I have been here.  They do good work. You should have no issues.

Got the tank back today.  This is a 7.5' long 30 gal tank.  It ended up being $85 out the door.  That included cleaning, testing, repairing and retest after the repair.  Money well spent IMO.  It had a couple of pin holes in a bottom seam.  All is bueno now.  Time to get the tank installed and the seats in the Ambassador.  :smile30:

Good deal. Maybe you'll be back on the water in a week or two.
