FS: 05 Honda 450X - STREET LEGAL

Unfortunately it's time to part with my beloved 2005 450X. It is legitimately street legal, and is titled in TX as such. Everything about this bike passes state inspection without issue, except the tires which are not DOT approved - but I have still been able to get it inspected without a problem.

I enjoyed riding this around while I lived in the country, but after moving to Lubbock, I've hardly ridden it.

Anyway, overall it's in very good shape.

General info:
- 2005 Honda 450X
- Converted to street legal, title reflects this (does not say off road only - I know this bike can be registered in TX - other states should check local laws).
- 4 stroke, 5 speed
- Front/rear disc brakes
- Electric AND kick start
- Clean/clear Texas title in hand

Mods/Upgrades/Etc:
- PoliSport headlight with hi/low beam
- LED turn signals front/rear
- LED tail/brake light
- New front/rear sprocket and chain
- New fork seals and bushings
- Black Polisport plastics
- 2005 450R cam (slightly more aggressive than stock 05 450X cam - the stock 450X cam does come with it)
- Emission block offs (not installed, but included)
- SLP mesh screens to cut the airbox, but still have some prefiltering before the main air filter (not installed, but included)
- JD jet kit
- KOSO "dash" speedometer, temp gauge, tach, etc
- Tusk aluminum handguards
- Neoprene fork seal covers
- Renthal bars
- Comes with battery tender

Overall the bike is in good shape and runs/rides GREAT. It needs nothing to be ridden. The bike has tons of power (just like any other Honda 450). Like I said, I really hate to sell it...but it won't suit my needs after the move.

Price is $3000.

Not really interested in trades...but I won't say I'm completely opposed to a trade.

The bike and I are located in Lubbock, TX. You can PM or call/text 325-Six Two Seven-8214 for more info.

Thanks,
Zach

Thanks! I'm trying to hold off on getting too many CL ads up yet (I did post one in the Abilene section) because I hate dealing with 90% of the CL traffic...but it might be necessary in the near future.

If you want one, you should buy this one!

I gathered that from the thread linked below...there are others like both a TT and other forums.

http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/270715-blown-transmission-crf450x/

It seems that some people have no issue after 1000s of miles of on road use...and others have issues with under 100 miles on pavement. Murphy lives with me...so I'm not brave enough to chance it. More oil in the tranny is supposed to be a "cure"...but even some guys who run a full quart have blown theirs on pavement.

ooo god thumpertalk. I used that forum once a lonnnng time ago. Bunch of dorks on there.

I have a friend that commutes his crf supermoto 50 miles a day. Been doing that for a few years now.

Atleast your honest but I don't think its a worry. Every little problem goes on a forum then a hundred people make it into a big problem.

Sweet bike! Good luck with the sale. Always wanted a dual sport with some power!

You're right...it might be totally untrue. I've never been brave enough to test it - and maybe it really shouldn't be in my ad; but I didn't want anyone to buy it, drive it on the street, blow the tranny, and then think I wasn't an honest seller. I dunno...I was kind of debating whether to say that or not.

I have loved it...because it's been a great DS so far. All the power I wanted, and lightweight. Seems like something ALL the air cooled DS are missing. Plus, it's one of the few with elec and kick start.

I have had a DR350, DRZ400, XR650L, KLR650, and a 1971 Honda XL250 (which I still have). This has been my favorite by FAR. More power than the 650s...but at the weight of the smaller bikes. I've also had a CR125, CR250, and CRF450R. Only the 450R makes this bike seem sedate. I actually LOVED my 450R; but it was too hard to find places to ride - and I got REAL sick of the kick start after I bumped the compression.

Geez, talking about this has made me want to keep it and just chance it on the pavement.

^^^ Did that bike have a fire near the tank? Or...?

As for keeping it, we'll see. If it doesn't sell before I move, then it'll probably remain mine. I'm ok with either way it happens.

As for bikes, though...even if it sells, I still have this one:

That's a nice bike and yeah I think it caught fire at some point prior to me owning it.  Definitely was short circuited had to redo the entire wiring harness.  I have some new panels just been riding it so much hate to tear it down to paint it.  And as long as its running its saving me on gas which all goes into the boat so all the free time goes into the boats.
