This picture was taken at the OPA World Finals last weekend. I guess he was running around 110 when he hit a roge wave. Serious air there!!!!

They landed fine and finished the race. They were racing in 3-5ft swells so I am guessing this was happening a lot. This is just one the camera happened to catch. As long as they are flying level like that it is not too bad, if the boat tilts back or forward then it is a different story. Takes a hell of a throttle man to run in slop like that at those kind of speeds and not crash.

Yes, I figure it has to be turbine powered! Then I saw the sticker for it! :smile16:

Speaking of throttle man, I wonder how that works on the turbines. They don't spool up fast like a piston driven engine! think.gif

They won't have the throttle response of a gas powered engine for sure so I think it is a little more difficult for them to run in big water like that. They definatly have to be trimmed perfectly but at 1,800hp per side, on smoother water they are pretty hard to keep up with though.
