Motor locked up, prop stopped turning and created drag, driver rolled out front.  Happens when there is no prop release or the prop relase fails

That is what I thought but it did not look like they shut down that hard.  Hard to tell from video.

well I  gotta post here,  for I love all you guys out there,  and most definitely we are a bunch of crazy nuts,  but the more testing that happens rises the odd of a mechanical failure,  I'm not a racer on the water cause it scares the crap out of me,  and when my friends are out there I pray and become one with GOD that every one of you make it through,  please use commensense,  winning is not everything but LIFE IS

Dude I hear ya, I always ask my Co-pilot JC to ride with me, then thank him afterwards. That is why I will never go full tilt with someone in the boat with me.  That is a rule I have had for many years.  If I get hurt that is one thing, If I hurt someone else that I could not deal with. No issues in the Kurtis (one seat).

I understand where you are coming from,  but remember the loved ones,  everyone remember the loved ones that are spectating and those that will have to deal with the pain IF something that does not go the way you may think it will,    just something for everyone to think about,  put GOD and our Savior Jesus Christ first and let them lead the way down the stream,  stay safe through out the boating season

Right on!   Been there, done that in 1979.  Nose stuck in and I went out forward......... hurts like hell too.  Broke bottom on boat and it did a 180 and landed upright.

I shall never drive another flat or hydro without a prop release or ratchet!  Nor will I ever make anothe pass with anyone in boat over 70mph........ just so happens young and stupid and had wife in boat with me.  Scared me more about her than the loss of equipment or my own well being.

Stay safe everyone and use your best judgment!!

Some pretty "hairy" stuff in that video compilation.  Does make you think a little....  Thank GOD for safety equipment (right Henry?)

Im glad my boat is slow, and has good brakes.    So far almost 2 years with it now, worse things I have done was:

1.  Hit a big ass wave from a larger boat on Gibbons in 2011. Hit VERY hard, was at full speed.
2.  Turned too sharp and gassed it at Somerville one time, 2011.  Pump unloaded, water came over back of boat, quite a bit of water, just kept going and turned on bilge, all water was almost all gone by the time I made it to the other side of the cove.  Had like 4 people in boat, never turned like that again.
3. Parked it on top of some big rocks at Gibbons 2012.  Was idling around in a shallow zone, should have known better.  Sucked a rock up into the pump, luckily at ramp I got the rock out with my car antenna and went back to playing, didn't damage boat any.

So far no problems at Altair that I can remember.  I am pretty cautious on that river, Im used to the Lake, I know which parts to stay away from in a Jet/low profile boat, the river scares me a little.

I've gotten hurt worse WORKING on the boats than playing in the water with them.  Nearly sawed my left thumb off with a Skill saw in 2011 working on my old Baja 16.

Some other things I learned:

1.  My boat (gets) towed quite well.
2.  My boat doesn't tow (do the towing) very well at all, sits too low in the water, I get soaked.

Hey DUANE, wanted to say thanks again for getting my boat together for me, learned a lot in the process of it all, and it's been a good reliable boat.  I did have to change the size of the exit water line and had the T-valve stick and burn up the headers a little, but no biggie, if money ever gets rolling in again I will get them coated.  Since you put it together I only had to pull the motor once (LOL not your fault) nuts fell off one of the front motor mount pad bolts and I did a wheelie and it snapped that back motor plate on the opposite corner.  We pulled the motor out and had a buddy tig it back together and it's been fine since.  I ended up going with longer bolts and put multiple regular nuts AND lock nuts on so it won't ever happen again.  Though I still check it!  Just wanted to say thanks, haven't seen you at any of the events I've been too, been to long would be good to see you!

Oh, and one more thing, I know I say my boat is slow, but I have had it up to 70, I got a fuel system issue and crankcase ventilation issue to work out, when it's running strong it will pull 70 on GPS with a light chop at 5000 rpm.
