first of all how do i change the oil in the bowl i have checked it a few times i have only had the boat out about 6 times but it always seems to be milky like it has water in it is this normal or do i have a cracked bowl idk you tell me lol second i was looking at the pump running down the river and it seems the nossle it leaking where it bolts to the bowl and around the steeing pivit shaft it has a couple of wedges and i diddent know if that had nething to do with it or not just kinda wondering if it is a bad thing? next i have a brand new 455 .030 ove ported ka heads comp 280 cam edelbrock performer intake and a 780 street avenger single pumper vac secondary i am figuring it is a solid 400 to 425 hp it turs a max of 4800 rpm and 57 mph that seems slow should i go down an impeller size to turn it a little harder? and mabye pick up a few mph it seems kinda slow only 57 mph it is a 19ft shallow v i will include a link to pics what impeller do u think i have and a? thanks dj

nice boat!firstsounds like the inner bowl seal is bad in your boat.changing oil won't do a lot of good.i.m.h.o.,if it were me,i would either put fresh 90wt gear oil in there after every outing,or put a grease fitting on there and leave the other plug out, pump it full of grease,a good synthetic that wont break down with water.pump it full untill it exits the other side hole.then reinstall the plug.that gasket is gonna get worse, you need a $3 gasket from tom at jet boat performance, or wherever you shop.replace it soon.as for the rpms and speed on your rig, sounds about right to menot an olds fan here for sure, but, you don't want to turn that motor much harder than that.you may want to look for some speed in a ride plate or shoe, somewhere in your setup.i hope this helps!

how big of a job is it to change the inner bowl seal? im hoping the shaft doesent have to come out because i just had the engine out 3 times and i will sell the boat before i take the engine back out lmao! gettin good at it now tho.... now as for the gasket for the nozzle there are two wedges on it that seem to be cancelling each other out and just spacing the nozzle out farther? idk! do i need two gaskets? do i need three gaskets do i get rid of one wedge? and also call me stupid for asking but how do you get the oil out of the bowl there is no drain? do i suck it out? and will the grease thing take care of it that so that i wont have to replace the seal cause i would rather honestly just replace the seal as for going out tomarro i think i will just squirt new oil into the bowl and let it run out the other side and get some good oil in there and keep dooing that for the time beeing ....if you think it will got me by

i am in southers illinois neer st louis.... i knew i would have to take the transom cover off but thats no biggie i wanna re seal it and get the shitty looking caulk replaced and paint everything real nice as for the grease those really arent roller bearings in there are they they look like bushing type of things....so the grease wont hurt anything?
