I made a trip back to my home town a couple of months ago and found this. It is a 1972 Yamaha 350 r5 2-stroke that used to belong to my dad. It was sitting in my brothers garage under a bunch of dust and junk. My brother is not very mechanical, so when I asked what he was going to do with it he said "you might as well take it because I will never get it running again." So, he signed over the title and I brought it back with me. My dad had bought it in 1974 and rode it until he passed away in the early 80's and it has been sitting in the garage since then. It is all original and only has 8000 miles on it. After a little work and a lot of cleaning I got it running and have put about 400 miles on it so far. This thing is a blast to ride and brings back a lot of memories. When time allows, I plan to fully restore it and pass it on to one of my grandsons when they are old enough.

Wow, nice bike! Doesn't look like it needs restoring at all...it's perfect!

I like the vette in the background...I had a 1981 vette that was white with a black interior and mirrored T-tops....man I miss that thing!

Very cool that you got your dad's old bike up & running. Looks like it came from the showroom floor. :smile16:

Thanks. That is the shop at the house and the vett is another project of mine. Going to be an all glass, big block, 82 with a few other body mods. I need a some more things to do with my spare time that I don't get. lol NOT!!

Beautiful bike.
I had one like it in High School.
She cleaned up real nice.

I had a 71 model that I got just out of High School. They were pretty quick in their day. It is funny to ride it now compaired to modern bikes. Makes you appreciate how far motorcycles have come.
