I have been watching the same threads and telling myself I wished a turbo engine would work in a Flatbottom V-Drive . I think i would start saving for the parts to convert mine engine over to a turbo ..
That is when a day Cruiser V-Drive or a jet is nice , they turbo engines will work in them ..

I been told that they will not work in a Flat because they just keep building power and the boat will not take a set and run out like it should .. I need to borrow a turbo engine and see if this is right .. Any one got one a could borrow for a day >> LOL ..

Hass, your boat is awesome .. One of these days I would like to pick your brain about the entire engine setup and the cost

No problem Billy, If you need it to hit hard I would consider a little more static compression and alky for fuel. Wouldnt need an intercooler and could make insane hp.
I have heard people say that a turbo engine wouldnt work in a flat because you need to burn the prop. I dont know sh-t about flats but I would bet that you wouldnt have any problem burning the prop, the problem would be getting it to finally hook up  crazy.gif

this is a vid of a couple test launches, not just flat footing it but just rolling into it. On the first one the camera got scared riding up there and decided to hide its head so I tightened the hell out of it and it stayed for the next one. I dont think it would have any problem burning a prop.

I think it would burn the prop with no problem , the problem is that turbos keep making more power all the time and the boat wants to keep climbing out of the water .. I think you would have to keep putting down pedal in it all the time and not let the boat free up and run out ..
Can't wait to see it again ..

You got one badd a$$ boat there Hass .  clap.gif

HMMM, I see what your saying. Would be interesting to see if one could be purpose built to work. But then who would have the balls to drive it out & see ?

I would like to try it and see what would happen . Not sure if I would be able to stand on it and run it out the back door . It would be interesting for sure ..

I think I need to find me a Pro Chargers , that would be some thing different for a V-Drive ..

Hass : Have you topped this beast out yet to see what she going to do ??

No, I had a little ring problem and have just now got the engine sealed back up and ready to go back in the boat. It will be back in soon.
As for topping it out, well lol, I probably wont. When I did that little data log I was out there by myself and nobody even knew were I was so I was just going to hold it at full boost for a couple sec as I was trying to datalog to see what the A/F ratio was doing at WFO.  It hit 23psi for only 2sec and the total pass according to the datalog was 5 1/2 sec from an idle. Went 124.6mph according to the GPS recall. And it felt like it was just beginning to get its legs. I know in my own mind that it will go faster than the limits of the hull and either blow over or come apart at some point. Dont know just how much more of that I really want, even at the races. Hate to sound like a coward but theres just no way I can put into word just how hard this thing pulls. It scares the livin sh-t outa me.
I had full intentions when I put this thing together of being able to turn the boost down to a more sensible 6-8psi so I could enjoy it on pump gas then turn it up to 20-30psi for racing. Well the lowest I can turn it with the wastegates I'm running is 23psi, and it just a beast. The funny thing about it is I have the ability to turn it up to 30-32psi. Dont ever see the need to go there, lol. If I can just make it live a long life at the level its at right now, its all the engine anyone would ever need in an open boat(and then some).

That is just awesome >>  You should be very proud of all those numbers . I know I would be .. Sound like you have plenty of engine there for whatever you want to do .. Just be carefull out there .. You already know it will be faster than you should go in the boat ..
You need your helmet on and your lifeline jacket on at those speeds .

keep us updated on this beautiful and fast ride ..  clap.gif
