Damn'd Yankee?

I bought my '76 Checkmate in Ohio.  I drove four days straight to pick it up and bring it home.  I blew the motor in 2 days. I have spent the last 8 years getting it put back together. I kinda felt The Damn'd Yankee kinda fit.  Any thoughts or suggestions.

I am hopefully picking up the drive line today and stabbing the motor tomorrow.  I ain't gonna lie, I will be crying when I finally stick it in the water.  :smile18:
